Biography

June is a retired advance practice registered nurse and healthcare administrator with over 25 years of strategic program and leadership development experience. She was instrumental in establishing the children’s hospital in Colorado Springs and multiple collaborative pediatric specialty programs in partnership with the University of California San Francisco. A Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow, June holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Administration. In her commitment to grow the next generation of nurse leaders, June served on and is a founding board member of NurseTRUST. Paying forward her skills and knowledge, she facilitated the creation of a leadership fellowship program for emerging, experienced and executive nurses in collaboration with the Center for Creative Leadership. Her work was recognized in 2025, when June was awarded the NurseTRUST Shirley Chater Enduring Leadership Award. June resides both in Colorado Springs and South Gulf Cove, Florida (winter months), with her husband, Daniel Runingen. They have 2 daughters, their oldest daughter a UCCS nursing graduate. Besides enjoying fly-fishing, golfing, reading and playing the harp, June believes in giving back through volunteering.
