Aidan Burke
Major: Nursing JuniorBiography
Howdy! I’m Aidan, from Longmont, Colorado. I’ve always been inescapably curious, a trait leading me to explore a wide range of interests. In high school, I focused on 2D/3D design, music, and theatre, earning a four-year Visual & Performing Arts certificate. I’ve since shifted towards STEM, currently enrolled in the Beth-El nursing program, while completing pre-med coursework to strengthen my foundation in the sciences. Outside of school, I stay active through weightlifting, backpacking, and working on anything with an engine. One of my favorite long-term projects was restoring a 1980 CJ7, recently being able to trail ride it. It’s hands on and frustrating, but keeps me grounded and gives me a sense of progress. At UCCS, I’m involved in research for the Chemistry Department, employed as an Apartment RA, and am part of the Honors Program. I’ve held two terms as Vice President of CKI, part of a nationally recognized volunteer organization. Most recently, I was elected Student Body President with a record-breaking number of student votes. In this role, I lead the executive branch, coordinate Senate efforts, and help allocate our $900,000 Student Government budget to support student organizations, events, and initiatives. Originally, my goal was to go to medical school, I’ve since discovered my passion lies in leadership and improving systems. I now plan to pursue a graduate degree in health administration to help reform how patient care and staffing are managed in public hospitals. I care deeply about building community, communicating clearly, and using data-driven change. But more than anything, I believe in the value of kindness. All of which are pillars echoed in every role I take on.
